WKO Regional Development Programmes

Building the Foundation of the National Amateur Season
The World Kickboxing Organisation (WKO) has established a structured national amateur competition system across the United Kingdom.
With rankings, regional qualifiers, national championships, and national team selection already in place, the next stage of growth is regional development delivery.
WKO is formally appointing Regional Development Hosts across the UK to deliver sanctioned interclub competition under the official WKO framework.
This ensures consistent standards, safe development pathways, and long-term athlete progression.
This template will then be available internationally for all WKO Nations to adopt this approach.

Why Regional Development Matters
A strong national system is built locally.
Development Interclubs serve as the controlled entry point for:
-
Novice competitors
-
Junior athletes
-
First-time fighters
-
Clubs introducing athletes into structured competition
These events are not open tournaments.
They are regulated, experience-matched, and pathway-driven.
Each Development Interclub feeds directly into the wider WKO seasonal structure.

The WKO Amateur Pathway
The WKO system provides a clear, transparent progression model:
Stage 1 – Club Training
Athletes build foundation skills within their home club.
Stage 2 – Development Interclub (N Class / Novice)
Controlled competition with strict experience matching.
Stage 3 – Regional Ranked Open
Athletes begin earning official WKO ranking points.
Stage 4 – National Championships
Structured national competition within defined divisions.
Stage 5 – National Team Selection
Selection based on transparent performance criteria.
Stage 6 – World Championships
International representation under official WKO governance.
This pathway ensures athletes progress safely and systematically.

It is a recognised leadership role within the national amateur structure — and it carries clear financial opportunity alongside strategic influence.
WKO believes strong regions are built by strong clubs. Hosts are empowered, not restricted.
Event Revenue — Yours to Retain
All WKO-sanctioned Development Interclubs hosted within your region operate under a simple principle: Event revenue generated is retained by the Host Club.
This includes:
-
Fighter entry fees
-
Spectator ticket sales
-
Refreshments & concessions
-
Local sponsorship agreements
There are no excessive centralised revenue grabs.
Hosts are encouraged to reinvest event profits into:
-
Facility improvements
-
Equipment upgrades
-
Referee development
-
Regional growth initiatives
-
Marketing & athlete development
The stronger your region becomes, the stronger your club becomes.

As an Official Regional Host:
Any clubs within your region who join WKO for:
-
Athlete licensing
-
Coach registration
-
Insurance provision
-
Grade certification
Will generate a paid regional commission for the Host. This rewards regional leadership and active recruitment. Hosts are not only event organisers — they are regional ambassadors contributing to structured growth.

Official recognition on the WKO national platform
-
Branding as the authorised WKO representative for their area
